To strengthen the commitment of Medical Social Workers by providing training, research, continuing education and other opportunities to ensure quality health.



1. To enhance knowledge, attitude and skills through continuing education.

2. To promote and maintain a professional standard of social work practice.

3. To provide opportunities for professional training and improvement.

4. To work for better public understanding and acceptance of social work as a profession.

5. To expand professional activities of the Association in program planning, development and evaluation

6. To promote the welfare of members.

7. To help establish and maintain cordial and mutually beneficial relationships.

8. To cooperate with the government health and welfare programs and activities.

9. To purchase, lease , own , hold , acquire or otherwise accept such property, real or personal, as may necessary, convenient or appropriate to serve the purposes here to expressed and;

10. To do all such other acts that is necessary or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives or any of them provided that nothing shall be done contrary to the existing laws of the Philippines.



Qualifications of Membership

Members of the Association shall be limited to individuals with academic training in Social Work, engage and primarily concerned with organized social service activity in hospitals, clinics or health centers and may be classified into regular, associate and honorary members.

a. Regular members – Primarily licensed/registered social worker who are currently working in a medical/hospital setting, be it government or private sector.

b. Associate members –
I.  Those who have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and have worked as paid or volunteer worker for less than five (5) years in a recognized support service agency (GO’s or NGO’s) provide support service to hospitals or other health agencies.
II. Those registered social workers that have retired from the service but are still active in attending/participating in the Association’s activities.
III. Associate members cannot be elected or assume major positions in the organization but can continue to actively participate in any committee they are interested in.

c. Honorary Members – those who have served as Presidents of the Association. He/she maybe consulted on matters concerning the Association.

Rights of Members

A member shall have the following rights:

a. To exercise the right to vote on all matters relating to the affairs of the Association.

b. To be eligible to any elective or appointive office of the Association.

c. To participate in all deliberation/meetings of the Association.

d. To avail of all the facilities of the Association.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Members

A member shall have the following duties and responsibilities:

a. To obey and comply with the by laws rules and regulations that may be promulgated by the association from time to time.

b. To attend meetings of the association.

c. To pay one time membership and annual dues as maybe determined by the Board of Directors.
